The chief benefit of the printed note pad to marketers, apart from taking down important details, is the branding of real estate and frequent use. Through their continued use, notepads will allow you to achieve the kind of frequency that builds brand awareness and top of mind recognition. Therefore you should always bear two things in mind when designing your notepads: utility and branding.
The utility can be optimized by having an understanding of the target market you will give these to. Are you a pharmaceutical company? Then make it a prescription pad. Artists and designers will appreciate notepads without lines; while accountants, bankers, and investment managers might prefer lines and even grids on their custom printed notepads.
Your branding options are the inclusion of your logo, slogan, and contact details. Make these clearly visible without overcomplicating your design. You can even incorporate a watermark.
For the best results, use professional design software such as Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, or Illustrator. Also, ensure that your closed artwork file adheres to all the items on the checklist for saving your artwork. If you are not comfortable with the respective design software, we recommend our professional design services. Great design is crucial, as a poor design can, in fact, harm the overall impact of your brand.

Paper
80gsm bond paper is most widely used in your office printer. This makes it the most popular and cost-effective paper for printing notepads and other business stationery.
Refinement
Adhesive Binding is ideal for your custom notepads. The pages of your notepads are gathered and held together by an adhesive. This type of binding will hold your pages in place and allow you to easily tear away an entire page while still preserving the integrity of the pad and the page.
Draw On Cover The cover (when choosing the cover option) is creased and wrapped around the book block, glued to the spine, and trimmed flush.
Do you print leather-bound notepads?
Unfortunately, we do not print leather-bound notepads yet. However, we are adding new products to the website every month. Let us know on support@expressprint.co.za if this is a product you would like to see from us.
Why do the colors on my notepad look different from what I had on my computer?
We have a post on this on our blog. In summary, there are two alternatives when choosing colors for print: RGB or CMYK. RGB is the color spectrum used for images on screens only. CMYK, on the other hand, is the one used for printing. In other words, setting up the artwork in CMYK is vital. An artwork set up in RGB may, in fact, cause color variations and thus suboptimal outcomes. Here’s a quick guide on CMYK VS RGB.
Do your notepads come with covers?
Covers are not a standard inclusion in notepad printing. If you wish for a cover on your notepad, please send your query to support@expressprint.co.za and we can assist you. Otherwise, select the “1 Page” option under the “Cover” section of the available options when ordering with us.
What is “bleed”?
Bleed is the area around your artwork that is trimmed off. This allows your design to look as if it was printed to the edge, even when the cutting alignment was slightly off. Your bleed should always extend to at least 3mm.
